Washburn University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Bands to begin August 1, 2019. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track appointment as Lecturer.

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in music.
- Experience directing university athletic bands.
- Conducting experience at the collegiate level.
- Experience teaching at the collegiate level.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching applied percussion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate or ABD in music.
- Experience writing drill design for marching band.
- Public school teaching experience (2 years).
- Experience in an additional area such as applied low brass.
- Experience directing a drumline.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Assistant Director of the WU Marching Blues.
- Direct the university’s men’s and women’s basketball bands.
- Assist with the Kansas Bandmaster’s Association & Capital City Marching Festivals.
- Maintain an active level of professional activity in the recruitment of high school students.
- Teach music courses assigned to fit the successful applicant’s qualifications.
- Expected to contribute to the life of the department and university through service.
