Research Specialist
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Research Specialist for the College of Engineering. This is a full-time, permanent staff position.
Purpose of the Position: Supports Research/Instructional Laboratory Operations by assisting in project management, providing fabrication of specialized equipment to satisfy specific research and instructional needs, conferring with research personnel to recommend procedures used in the development of experimental research equipment, and assisting in the preparation of plans and specifications for such equipment and experimentation. monitors and manages the EPIC Hi Bay and yard, totaling 34,000 sq. ft. and operates and maintains all heavy equipment associated with the Hi Bay. Also manages and maintains data acquisition equipment.
Salary: $61,458 - $65,118
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a four-year college and three years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major related to assigned field and six years progressive experience in general laboratory management. Research Laboratory management experience. Experience on inventory, design and fabrication of one of a kind devices. Experience with operating specialized electronic devices, calibrating equipment. Ability to read and interpret schematics and diagrams. Experience operating heavy equipment like forklift. Experience in steel welding with tic, arc, stick welding plasma cutting, steel erection. Experience operating heavy equipment like forklift.
