ROLE of the POSITION

Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at the University of Nevada Las Vegas is experiencing an unprecedented time of expansion and is seeking to fill a Staff Psychologist position to increase support for students. CAPS is an IACS-accredited center within the Student Wellness unit that includes the departments of health center, behavioral health, CARE center, wellness education and health promotion, disability resource center, and office of student conduct. This is a unique opportunity to work within a dynamic and integrated service delivery model that offers comprehensive wellness services to a diverse student population.  This is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits including an excellent retirement plan (15.5% match), competitive pay, paid holidays, generous sick leave, paid vacation, modern work facilities, and the opportunity to live and work in Las Vegas – the Entertainment Capital of the World.

 

General responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, time-effective individual, couples, and group therapy; crisis assessment and intervention; consultation, liaison, and outreach programming to the university community; supervision of doctoral interns and graduate trainees; and participation on divisional and university committees. The center has an APA-accredited Doctoral Psychology Internship program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from a regionally accredited college or university.  Candidates from an APA-accredited training program are preferred.  Completion of an APA-accredited doctoral internship is preferred.  Early career and experienced psychologists are encouraged to apply.

 

Candidates are required to be licensed as a Psychologist in Nevada within 6 months from the date of hire for licensed applicants and licensed within 8 or 18 months for postdoctoral and new doctoral graduates, respectively. 

The successful candidate will have strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention skills, competency in working with a diverse student population, demonstrated skills in supervision and training, and experience in brief therapy and group counseling. A desire to work in a collaborative setting and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.  All candidates must pass a background screening. Some evening/weekend activities required.

 

SALARY RANGE

Minimum salary $70,500 for unlicensed psychologists.  Position is contingent upon funding.
