Environmental Specialist l:
Salary: $3,814 - $4,793
Regular (full-time) Employee – 40 hours per week (Benefited)
This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED with a priority review date of November 2, 2018.
The Environmental Specialists series, with progressive levels of responsibility, provides support and advice services for applied research and technical assistance projects conducted by the Office of Water Programs on environmental problems. This position includes water quality and water resources specialties. The position involves providing technical expertise for storm water compliance programs; planning and construction of experimental facilities; planning, administering, and conducting research activities; and disseminating research results. This position assists with proposals, marketing, planning, organizing, supervising, and/or performing the work of a professional staff, and ensures that work products meet OWP quality standards. The position represents OWP at professional meetings and conferences involving state and federal entities, Sacramento State and other colleges/universities, industry, and private sector organizations.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor of Science Degree in biological sciences, biology, microbiology, chemistry, geology, earth sciences, environmental sciences or related field.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
3. Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze environmental laws and regulations including Federal Register and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
4. Demonstrated knowledge of the characteristics and environmental impacts of point and non-point source pollution.
5. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary research group.
6. Demonstrated ability to review and edit technical project reports and documents.
7. Demonstrated ability to present information and results in conferences and meetings.
8. Must be legally eligible to drive in California, complete and pass an online training course, maintain a good driving record, and be acceptable for vehicle insurance coverage under the University Enterprises insurance plan. Must continue to meet the established driving standards. Driving record will be monitored with the California Department of Motor Vehicles to ensure compliance.
9. Must pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting. Must continue to meet the established standards.
Environmental Specialist ll:
Salary: $4,932 - $7,397
Regular (full-time) Employee – 40 hours per week (Benefited)
This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED with a priority review date of November 2, 2018.
Minimum Qualfications:
1. Master of Science Degree in biological sciences, biology, microbiology, chemistry, geology, earth sciences, environmental sciences or related field with a total of four (4) years of experience with water quality or water resources projects, OR a Bachelor of Science Degree in same subjects with a total of six (6) years of experience with water quality or water resources projects.
2. Demonstrated experience of at least four (4) years in the field of specialty with increasing levels of responsibility in completing environmental projects.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze environmental laws and regulations including Federal Register and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
5. Demonstrated knowledge of the characteristics and environmental impacts of point and non-point source pollution.
6. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary research group.
7. Demonstrated ability to review and edit technical project reports and documents.
8. Demonstrated ability to present information and results in conferences and meetings.
9. Demonstrated knowledge of monitoring and analysis of natural and engineered environmental systems.
10. Environmental Specialist lll:
Salary: $5,699 - $8,548
Regular (full-time) Employee – 40 hours per week (Benefited)
This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED with a priority review date of November 2, 2018.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master of Science Degree in biological sciences, biology, microbiology, chemistry, geology, earth sciences, environmental sciences or related field with a total of 6 (six) years of experience with water quality or water resources projects, OR a Bachelor of Science Degree in same subjects with a total of ten (10) years of experience with water quality or water resources projects.
2. Demonstrated experience of at least six (6) years in the field of specialty with increasing levels of responsibility in completing environmental projects.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze environmental laws and regulations including Federal Register and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
5. Demonstrated knowledge of the characteristics and impacts of point and non-point source pollution.
6. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary research group.
7. Demonstrated ability to review and edit technical project reports and documents.
8. Demonstrated ability to present information and results in conferences and meetings.
9. Demonstrated knowledge of monitoring and analysis of natural and engineered environmental systems.
10. Demonstrated ability to manage environmental applied research projects.
11. Demonstrated ability to respond to request for proposals (RFP); and assemble and supervise a research team to complete the projects.
12. Must be legally eligible to drive in California, complete and pass an online training course, maintain a good driving record, and be acceptable for vehicle insurance coverage under the University Enterprises insurance plan. Must continue to meet the established driving standards. Driving record will be monitored with the California Department of Motor Vehicles to ensure compliance.
