Land Development Stormwater Plan Reviewer
Description of Work: Position will serve as Land Development Stormwater Plan Reviewer under general supervision of the Director of Engineering & Public Works. The position will serve as a land development specialist and is expected to work very closely with Engineering staff and Land Development staff in the performance of duties.
Essential Duties, Skills, and Demands of the Position: The following duties are those considered most essential to the position. This does not preclude the delegation of other tasks considered as necessary by a supervisor to successfully complete an assignment or project.
- Reviews reports and plans to ensure compliance with local, County, State, Federal guidelines, policies, and laws.
- Participates in writing and revising ordinances and technical designs.
- Maintains comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable regulations, guidelines and new methods.
- Reviews bonding elements based on stormwater plans and plats.
- Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of State and Local regulations and ordinances governing land development and land disturbing activities. Skill in interpreting and applying technical standards and procedures, Federal and State rules and regulations, and Town policies and procedures. Skill in reading and evaluating construction documents and technical specifications, collecting and analyzing data, and performing mathematical and statistical calculations. Must be extremely organized and able to independently manage time sensitive documents and processes. Ability to work independently and confidentially when necessary, applying established procedures to varying situations. Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to prepare and present technical reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town officials, other public officials and representatives, associates, developers and the general public. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work and complete assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships by being proactive, collaborative, and diplomatic with Town employees, outside agencies and the general public.
Special Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree of Science in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or Environmental Engineering and at least three years of progressively responsible experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.
