Hydraulic Maintenance MechanicSouth Florida Water Management District
The South Florida Water Management's Miami Field Station is recruiting for a Hydraulic Maintenance Mechanic to perform heavy manual work in the installation, service and repair of fluid power equipment and hydraulic systems on water control structures, gates, and tools within Region 2 (Miami, BCB, Ft. Lauderdale and Homestead Field Stations area of responsibility). Incumbent will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on 24 hydraulic systems conducting 48 PMs per year plus breakdowns.
This position will continue to support the Structure Maintenance program by performing mechanical work associated with the maintenance and repair of 33 automated structures, pump stations and gates within the Miami area of responsibility as well as field station buildings and facilities. Incumbent will utilize hand and power tools, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, read and follow job specifications, blue prints and diagrams. Other duties as assigned.
Work Hours: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm.
This position is subject to random mandatory drug and alcohol testing. Employment Guidelines High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years experience in fluid power and hydraulic driven equipment installation and repair work. Licenses Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within 3 months from the date of hire and/or placement in job. Ability to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid. Physical Requirements/Working Environment Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
Primarily field work with regular exposure to unpredictable weather conditions. Overtime will be required based on weather and/or environmental conditions. Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests and operates equipment to complete assignments.
Work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transports equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more. 2158BR
