BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: We are looking for a candidate who has strong knowledge and experience with Accounts Payable. Responsible for the timely and accurate processing and maintenance of various accounts payable items, accounts receivable items, sub ledger accounts and underground plat contract records; recommending cost-effective changes in accounting procedures as appropriate; researching, analyzing and resolving problems in assigned area of responsibility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Accounting and Auditing theories, practices and principles. Economic theories. Analytical techniques. Computers and related software (automated accounting software, word processing, spreadsheet, database, etc.). Ability to: Communicate and work effectively with all levels in the organization, outside agencies, vendors, contractors, and the public. Work with confidential information. Balance accounts and maintain accurate records. Work under pressure to meet scheduled deadlines. Research, analyze and resolve accounting related problems. Serve in a lead capacity. Learn and apply FERC and NARUC accounting systems. Work independently. Operate a calculator, computers and related software including updated District software and microfiche viewer. Work in a team environment with a strong customer focus for both internal and external customers. Use independent and discretionary judgment. Plan and organize work, incorporating changing District priorities.
Experience/Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting OR Associate of Technical Arts Degree in Accounting and two years progressively more responsible accounting experience. WA Driver’s License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience using automated accounting software (SAP preferred) including integration, report writer and query capabilities. Knowledge of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and National Association of Regulatory Utilities Commissions (NARUC) uniform system of accounts.
