Tax Accountant Specialist
Silvas Financial Services is looking for someone to join our team as a Tax Accountant Specialist for our Davie Office. Our company provides comprehensive accounting, payroll, and payroll tax services, sales & use tax services, personal & corporate tax services, and accounting training and assistance to small and medium businesses.
This position will serve as a business advisor and an integral part of the leadership team of this dynamic and growing firm. The Tax Accountant Specialist reports to the CPA and will be responsible to provide accounting, tax preparation, and tax planning services to a variety of clients. This position will be responsible for client development, process change, providing direction and financial expertise to different clients. The Tax Accountant Specialist will be responsible for performing accounting functions; and he or she will be in charge of managing the month-end close and related accounting processes for our different clients, which includes accounting, general ledger, financial statement preparation, treasury, accounts receivable and accounts payable. He or she will interact closely with clients to provide innovative business, tax planning, consulting and compliance services in a timely and effective manner. Prepare and review federal and state corporate, individual, and partnership returns, including exercising professional judgment with respect to issue identification to develop solutions. Ensure complete client satisfaction through open communication, managing and meeting deadlines, and proactively sharing tax saving strategies.
The specialist will have the support and guidance of our CPA whenever need it, but to really excel in this position you are the type of person who wants to be in charge of your day and doesn’t need to be closely supervised. Strong preference will be given to individuals who bring Peachtree, QuickBooks expertise and an interest in leveraging emerging technologies and efficiencies.
Essential Functions
- Preparation and filing less complex multi-state business and personal income tax returns
- Review financial records, such as prior tax return forms, income statements, and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare return
- Interview clients to obtain additional information on taxable income and deductible expenses and allowances
- Compile client information into a useable financial statement
- Compute taxes owed and complete entries on tax forms
- Consult tax law handbooks or bulletins to determine procedures for preparation of atypical returns
- Examine and respond to client notices and inquiries from the IRS
- Assist with preparation of Federal and State Individual tax returns, C/S-Corporate and Partnership tax returns and tax accruals and File extensions and estimated payments
- Calculate tax basis and tax implications of proposed transactions
- Contact, communicate and maintain relationships with tax authorities
- Manage all day-to-day bookkeeping activities through Peachtree, QuickBooks and other accounting software
- Review A/P and A/R reports
- Prepare information for budgeting reports and forecasts
- Analyze and organize financial data into useable information
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing
- Assist CPA perform tax planning for U.S. Companies with foreign operations and vice versa
- Calculate appropriate exchange rate by estimating the weighted average daily exchange rate for the tax year
- Sales Tax - preparation of sales tax reports
- Payroll Tax - preparation of payroll tax reports
- Peachtree & QuickBooks - ability to perform monthly write-up functions
- Client and internal communications via phone and e-mail
- Extensive data entry
- Various database management tasks
- Work with confidential client matters
- Manage work flow and priorities
- On-time delivery of client financial reporting packages
- Low error rates and overall quality of work output
- Ability to work independently
- Maintain high client satisfaction
- Participate in all team meetings and other projects as assigned
- Assist CPA with tasks and projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum four (4) years of proven experience as a tax accountant, tax analyst or similar
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting procedures, finance and/or tax experience
- Strong working knowledge of accounting (GAAP) and International Standards and Regulations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
