Credit and Collection Analyst
McClatchy is hiring a Credit and Collection Analyst to support our business units throughout the United States. In this role you will be involved in establishing, maintaining and improving processes and meeting the goals of the Credit and Collections team and the Shared Services Center. The position requires extensive interaction with internal and external customers from all of McClatchy’s business units.
This position is will be located at either our Sacramento Bee or our Miami Herald location. Please note, relocation support will not be provided.
As the Credit and Collection Analyst, your responsibilities will include:
- Performing analysis of financial statements to assess the credit risk and viability of potential and existing clients
- Establishing customer credit limits
- Reviewing past due accounts and initiating service shut-offs and reinstatement actions where appropriate
- Monitor credit queues in AdBase
- Performing accounts receivable collection activities and taking appropriate action through letters, emails, and phone calls
- Perform month end reporting for closing including key metrics to monitor success
- Negotiate customer settlement and payment plans
- Recommending accounts receivable for bad debt write-offs and placement for third party collection agencies
- Managing relationship with outside collections agency
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting or AR related position
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel and Windows
- Good working knowledge of billing systems and functions, as well as general accounting functions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer relation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Proficiency in AdBase, PeopleSoft, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, and Query writing
- Leadership experience
