Job Summary
Supports the goals and objectives of Office of Controller by developing and implementing procedures to improve compliance with institutional and Federal/State regulations as it relates to accounting practices for the University. Prepares and reviews reconciliations and journal entries. Analyzes, balances and research financial data discrepancies.
Prepares and reviews quarterly and annual financial information for Procurement Card (Pcard) and Single Use Account (SUA) accounts, including Quarterly reconciliations and adjusting entries, as needed.
Coordinates monthly wire payments for Pcard and SUA programs, including validation of amounts due and initiating the voucher build process at the end of the reconciliation cycle as assigned.
Serves as reviewer and liaison between the University community and our contracted 3rd party audit services provider.
Works with the University community and outside constituents to develop and implement strategies, procedures and processes based on best practices to improve customer service standards. Responds to and resolves issues pertaining to the Credit Card Solutions Programs efficiently and effectively.
Serve as Administrative backup to Assistant Director of PCard Services including Emergency Operation Committee (EOC) functions.
Evaluates, develops, and recommends to the Assistant Director of PCard Services policies/procedures to properly maintain accounting records in accordance with GAAP, University policies and State Regulations.
May serve as a liaison to the University Community for specialized issues as assigned.
Prepares and reviews reconciliations of accounts and sub-ledgers, journal entries, supporting schedules and other work papers, as well as analyzes balances and research discrepancies in financial data as they relate to the assigned areas of responsibility.
Assists in the month-end and quarter-end close process, including journal entry preparation, variance analysis, and reconciliation preparation/completion as assigned. Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts as assigned.
Assists with special projects as assigned. Maintains accounting records for special accounts and projects.
Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and two (2) years of directly related experience or a master’s degree in Accounting or an MBA and four (4) years of directly related accounting experience.
Departmental Requirements
Strong working knowledge of Excel.
