Serves as an effective resource and advocate for current and prospective students' housing search and housing-related needs. This position provides oversight to the Off-Campus Housing Services function, maintains off-campus housing options and occupancy trend data, and addresses the overall housing needs of students. The Off-Campus Housing Coordinator will develop and implement educational programs and workshops to promote responsible off-campus living and community engagement. The Off-Campus Housing Coordinator will work with Admissions and Orientations to help improve recruitment efforts for the university. Additionally, the position will assist with space reservations and provide Housing Operations support as needed.

  • Assists students in navigating the off-campus housing market, including identifying housing options, understanding lease agreements, and budgeting for living expenses.
  • Provides individualized guidance and support to students throughout the housing search process, addressing concerns and answering questions.
  • Cultivates positive relationships with property managers to promote student-friendly off-campus housing options.
  • Utilizes data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance off-campus housing services.
  • Responsible for serving as a liaison between FIU Housing and our off-campus housing website. reviewing off-campus housing rental listings, responding to student concerns with off-campus vendors through either email, walk-in, and phone correspondence, and updating the off-campus housing website and publications.
  • Oversees off-campus housing service program, which includes information about housing opportunities, transportation, safety and security, and other off-campus living concerns.
  • Coordinates with various departments to educate students on off-campus living options through Off-Campus Housing Fairs, Off-campus Housing Information sessions, new student orientations, and requested presentations.
  • Conduct training to campus partners (tour guides, recruiters) to teach them of off-campus housing options so they may better serve prospective students.
  • Manages off-campus housing website edits. Oversees the creation of the off-campus housing guide and other educational materials.
  • Coordinate quarterly meetings with campus partners and off-campus housing management teams.
  • Provides frontline assistance to students and parents and responds to inquiries from on- and off-campus constituents about off-campus housing.
  • Assists in maintenance and on-going development of partnership with Collegepads, which provides our off-campus housing listing.
  • Provides support to Housing Operations such as room assignments, card access, customer services, and call campaigns as needed.
  • Maintains data and contact information for all off-campus property managers.
  • Assists the Assistant Director of Housing with Event Management System (EMS) to keep track of all reservation requests and serve as a point of contact between housing and the client ensure the safety and security of the guests that attend.
  • Serve as an on-call member of housing operations afterhours on-call rotations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of office or related experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in housing, leasing or property management.
  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or MBA preferred.
