Distribution System Operator (DSO) Assistant
Dakota Electric Association (DEA), a member-owned, nonprofit electric utility serving over 101,000 members just south of the Twin Cities, is looking for an individual that will be at the pulse of the cooperative as a DSO Assistant.
The DSOs of DEA play a central role in daily operations to ensure the reliability of our service. They give work direction to line personnel for switching, service restoration and operations. The ideal candidate will have some understanding and operating knowledge of the computer technologies utilized in system operations including but not limited to: Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Outage Management System (OMS), Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Interactive Voice Response (IVR), Load Management (LM), Work Management (WM), Learning Management Software (LMS), etc.; strong computer skills are necessary.
The Assistant is a DSO "in-training" and will take on the task of learning the day to day operation of DEA's system. The DSOs rotate within a 24/7/365 shift and routinely work alone. Once the DSO training has been successfully completed, the DSO Assistant will transition into the DSO shift schedule and acquire the role of an operator.
