Structural code compliance for plan review and inspections.
General Purpose:
Performs work as a senior-level individual contributor and experienced technical expert in the Building division of the Sustainable Development department. Responsible for structural code compliance for plan review and inspections as governed by the Florida Building Code (FBC) and Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals. Ensures quality and safety in accordance with City zoning rules and regulations. Position relies on experience and exercises considerable independent judgment based on subject-matter expertise in the area of specialization and the application of advanced concepts, techniques, and knowledge of processes.
Hours of work: Monday through Thursday 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.; Days and hours subject to change

- Conducts a detailed examination of all plans and/or specifications, blueprints and E-Plans, and permit applications for compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances and Statutes
- Performs inspections for all buildings/ structures for conformity to plans, all applicable codes and safety standards
- Assists and interprets building code; guiding homeowners, contractors, architects and engineers through the permitting and inspection process
- Participates in meetings with homeowners, contractors, developers, architects, and engineers prior to and during construction activity
- Responds and investigations complaints pertaining to violations of applicable codes and ordinances; investigates referrals for the Code Enforcement Division
- Prepares reports of inspections, plan reviews and code investigations as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
