Job Duties:

Responsible for leadership and management of Pastoral Care Department at the hospital level through policy and procedure development as well as program design. Articulate the vision and mission of BHSF and develop annual management goals and strategic program objectives for the Department of Pastoral Care in coordination with the Assistant Vice-President for Pastoral Care. Establish and maintain an ongoing process improvement program for clinical process review and quality management. Engage, promote, and collaborate with research projects to advance the spiritual care programming and religious-medical partnerships. Provide educational opportunities, supervise and evaluate the performance of CPE Interns, Chaplain Residents, and Certified Educator Candidates in coordination and under the direction of the systems Director of CPE. Develop and manage annual budget for the Department in coordination with the Assistant Vice-President for Pastoral Care. Assure availability of timely, around the clock coverage (24/7) of pastoral care to hospital patients, staff, and their families through inhouse coverage and on-call support. Ensure that adequate and contextually relevant worship services, prayer services, support groups are available to hospital patients, visitors, and staff. Establish and maintain a mechanism to keep track of chaplain visitation and activities, endorse acceptable staff productivity levels, and provide regular reports to the Assistant Vice-President for Pastoral Care Services. Enforce proper documentation of all pastoral care interventions with patients on the medical record according to departmental policy. Responsible for management and coordination of the hospital's Employee Sunshine Fund, the pastoral care components of the Financial Assistance program, and the clergy discount program. Participate in the Hospital's Clinical Bioethics Committee and the Baptist Health's System Ethics Committee.

Requirements:

  • Master of Divinity (U.S. or foreign equivalent) or equiv. theological degree
  • 3 years of experience in same or related occupation.
  • Certification by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement in Good Standing.
  • Travel: Day trips (or fractions thereof) required approximately 3-5 times per month within Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe counties for business meetings or to assist with training of students and residents.
